We're Home!!!

Kassidy got released from the hospital on Sunday, May 20, 2012. She was so excited and so was I. Hopefully things will keep getting better.

May 17th, 2012

Today was a pretty good day. She gets to be off her iv's for 6 hours now so thats great. Hopefully more soon. Her soccer team came to see her which made her day. Her teachers, aunts & uncles also came. It was a busy day.

Wed, May 16th

Kassidy had a pretty good night. A few crazy dreams kept us up till about 12:30. She even tried to take her soft cast off. As you can see, she got her permanent green cast on today.
This morning was a little rough. Her stomach was upset and her pain was all over the place. Once we got that under control she was much happier.
She also switched from the IV pain meds to oral.
She got to be off her iv's for 4 hours which was wonderful not to have to haul around that big pole pull of stuff. So much easier to get to bathroom, go for walks, etc.

Monday, May 14th.

Nose brace/split came off.
Got up 4 times.
Back x-rays to check back. Looks good. Walked out to nurses station to see the xrays.
Fever minimal to none.

Rough night last night. Hope this one is better. Giving her some sleeping meds tonight to see if that helps.

She likes wet towels of her head which is pretty normal since she likes the same at home.

Saturday May 12

Kassidy is doing great! PT came and sat her up in a wheel chair for 30 mins. Her belly doesn't seem to want to wake up so we are hoping that will happen soon. Thank you to her cute friends who came to see her. You bring so much sunshine and smiles to her.

Hey everyone, sorry it's took so long to update. Life is a little crazy. Kassidy is doing amazing. She was transferred from the PICU Thursday night to the neuroscience trauma unit. Yeah! She had a little bit of a rough night that night but is a trooper.

Today the therapists had her sit up on the edge of the bed which was not very fun for her but she did awesome. After I left to go the the viewing, Duff said they came in again and had her stand. I can't wait to see that. :)

She's had a lot of visitors and she gets worn down, but I know she appreciates you all. Thanks for supporting and loving her.

Surgeries over we hope

Kassidy is out of surgery and doing awesome. She is talking a little bit but it hurts. This is hopefully the end of the surgeries. She asked when she could have water, when she could leave. The doctor told her no water for a few more days, but that he would swab her mouth with a sponge. Then the doctor said one last question and she wrote on her board WATER! and he gave into her and swabbed her mouth again. Man she knows how to work them. She would ask a question and we'd try to answer but she'd point at the doctor cause she wanted him to answer not us. Maybe she knows she can bribe them more, I don't know.

Back Surgery Time

Kassidy Just went in to back surgery. We've heard operation could take 4,6,7,9 hours so who knows. She is doing pretty well. She wants to know when we can go home. She's bored. Dr. Schmidt from the UofU came over to Primary's to do the surgery which is wonderful. He was kind of funny not knowing quite what procedure was here. They told him to sign Kassidy's arm to show he was there. Kass had to hold it up to check his signature out.

Wednesday Surgery

Kass will b going into surgery Wednesday morning to repair her broken vertebrae. It will be a long one. She's in good spirits now that the breathing tubes gone. :)
